A formal dining room with large open fire connects onto a relaxed open-plan living room and well equipped kitchen. From here you can spill out onto the large deck via bi-fold doors and enjoy an evening meal or BBQ.

Outdoor living equipment (umbrellas, deck chairs etc) can be found in the back porch, along with full laundry facilities (washing machine, tub).

All linen is provided.

Historic Homestead & Garden Visits

Mataia Homestead and the gardens are open to visit on selected days and by appointment. Please phone or email to enquire about opening times or to arrange a date to visit. Entry fee is $5 per person (discounted rates for larger groups – please enquire) and Devonshire Teas can be made available to purchase for groups on request.

Events at Mataia

From October to April, Mataia Homestead is available during the daytime between 10am – 4pm for functions and events.

With the extensive gardens and large outdoor deck area, the possibilities for an outdoor summer event are unlimited.
Do-it-yourself or we can organise it all for you. Some events we have hosted in the past include vintage car club picnics, garden club meets, wedding ceremonies, garden party luncheons, birthday celebrations and more.

We can tailor events to your request or have an extensive list of great local suppliers including marquee and equipment hire and caterers.
During the winter months the homestead is a great place for smaller more intimate gatherings.
